Apple Rejects Torrent App, Approves Vonage App

DailyTech by Jack Mick:- Apple still is making some high profile rejections, but its also making some tough approvals. Just over a month ago Apple rejected Google Voice, a voice iPhone app that would allow international calling at reduced rates and free SMS text messaging. TechCrunch.com by Daniel Brusilovsky:- AppsFire, a service for sharing iPhone Apps with anyone, has conducted a survey of 1,200 users using the AppsFire service to find out key data on iPhone and iPhone Touch users. AppsFire released a report taking data on real users and trends based on their usage patterns. The company gathered data on 1,200 users in July and August with respondents from across the globe with a high concentration in the United States (50%), France and Japan. (continue reading…)

PCMag by Dan Costa:- Apple unleashed Snow Leopard, the latest version of the Mac OS, late last night. PCMag’s early testing proves it’s a solid operating system—and at $29, something of a bargain. With Microsoft’s “Vista” nearing dirty-word status and Windows 7 ($120!) still months away, you might think this stellar new OS will have months, if not years to steal market share from Windows. You’d be wrong. In terms of market share, the Mac is going to stay a minor player in the PC world. Palm’s Brazen Pre Hack Back Into iTunes

VentureBeat by Paul Boutin:- Palm’s latest Pre software deliberately identifies the device as manufactured by Apple, in order to let the Pre connect to iTunes on PCs and Macs. The back story: Palm and Apple have been battling over the new Pre smartphone’s access to Apple’s iTunes music management application. Palm shipped the Pre a few weeks ago with a trick ID field set on its USB port. The setting fooled iTunes into thinking it was talking to an Apple iPod. But after Apple issued an update to iTunes that blocks devices with the Pre’s default settings, Palm went all out to re-hack the Pre back into iTunes. <Full Story…>
